PliersLab is a focused AI shop building products for owner-operator trade businesses — HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and other home services. The work is unglamorous. The people doing it are the backbone of how things actually function. They deserve software that respects that.
Why we exist
Trade businesses run on phone calls. A missed call after hours, during a service appointment, or in the middle of peak demand isn't a small inconvenience — it's a lost customer who already called the next contractor on their list.
Until recently, the only options were voicemail (calls don't come back), a generic answering service (untrained on the trade, can't qualify or book), or hiring a receptionist (a fixed cost most owner-operators can't justify). Voice AI is finally good enough to do this work — but only if it's built for the specific call patterns and judgment calls a trades business needs. That's what we build.
What we believe
Trades-first, not enterprise-first.
Most B2B software is built for office workers. We build for owners who answer their own phone between service calls. The product has to be installable in an afternoon and obvious in a week.

In trades, the customer who's calling at 7 PM about a no-cool emergency is comparison-shopping in real time. The shop that answers wins. Speed of pickup is the most underrated lever in this category, and it's the one AI is uniquely good at.

We're running a small private pilot before we open signups widely. Every product decision goes through real calls, real customers, and real owners — not imagined personas.
Where we are right now
